Who are these characters and why do I love them so much?

Serena van der Woodesen is the infamous "It" girl of the Upper East Side. She left for boarding school and suddenly came back. She tries to get her normal life back but fails, so instead she decides to try a new life. One night while her friends were at the 'Kiss of the Lips' Party, she was at a concert watching a band with Dan. She is portrayed as Blake Lively in the TV series.

Dan Humphrey is the outcast in the series. He has always been in-love with Serena for the longest time and was finally able to hook up with her. In the TV Show, he accidentally bumps into her and takes her to a concert. In the book, they meet at the concert by accident. He is portrayed as Penn Badgley in the TV series.

To me, Dan and Serena were meant to be together. It's like a reverse Cinderella Story in a way. Dan sees Serena, the girl that every guy wants. Serena is the "It" girl that everyone wants to date and be exactly like. They live two seperate worlds but somehow collide those worlds together. Serena longs for a romantic relationship that is more than just a fling. Dan who has been a nobody his whole entire life finally receives attention to the girl of his dreams. Even if they aren't met for each other, they still make good friends. Serena helps him understand her world and Dan helps her understand other people's world.
